Menina Infinito
My second favorite city in Brazil.
Belo Horizonte - Minas Gerais - Brasil
“Old incisions refusing to stay. Like the sun through the trees on a cloudy day.”
Through the indication of my good friend Paulo Leierer, I started reading Nicole Krauss’ The History of Love. I must say I’m loving it. She is married to Jonathan Safran Foer, who is possibly my favorite writer in activity (his new and revolutionary book is next on my reading list). Although Nicole Krauss is by all means her own person, it’s easy to see what attracted them to each other in the first place, as their writing share many similarities in both themes and style.
Like I said, I am really enjoying this book, and I would definitely recommend it. Every few pages there seems to be a passage that strikes a chord with me, either for reflecting things I think or just for being so damn beautiful. I’m going to start transcribing some of those here.
PS: I’m in Brazil for the next month, but I’m still working on my film as I take the time to see family and old friends. I’ll be posting pictures of both the trip and the film’s progress in the coming days.
So far my stay here has been great. Seeing people I love, eating amazing food and so on. Happy.
There’s been some sadness, too. Especially when driving down some familiar places at night. Sad.
Today I worked on a screenplay with one of my best friends, Paulo. Every scene we write cracks us up. It’s going to be a great script, if this keeps up.
