A Japanese street, circa 1986(?).
Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood is one of my favorite books, named after one of my favorite Beatles songs. It just became a movie. A Japanese movie, which is even better. Somehow it gets even better than THAT: Johnny Greenwood (from Radiohead), probably my favorite guitar player today, does the soundtrack. I’m incredibly excited for this.
Judy and Mary is probably my favorite japanese band. Here is why. Not only Yuki is a great vocalist, but the song is actually good and, above all, pay attention to what Takuya does with the guitar. That’s playing with feeling, something that 99% of Japanese bands (especially nowadays) lack. This is why JAM was so much better than Yuki’s solo career can ever hope to be, and why the same is true about other mainstream japanese bands.
It’s all about the feeling, people.
