Parks and Rec fans,

Since Ron is such a libertarian douche, shouldn’t he be against Leslie and in favor of Bobby Newport? After all, Newport wants to run the town “like a business”, while Leslie thinks corporations shouldn’t control people’s lives (and the only way to stop that is through regulations).

I could buy that his friendship with Leslie is more important or whatever, but I feel this should be addressed by the show.

Everyone should listen to this. That’s why voting does matter. Make sure you vote against everyone who promotes these policies.

Fuck yeah.

Fuck yeah.

The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there’s free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.

Does it sound familiar?

Yes, Obama duped young people by not doing every single thing they want. So now, they’ll all vote Republican. It’s like when I want some bread, I won’t settle for half a loaf. Instead, I will have a muffin made of broken glass.
